Dr Qais Kadhim Al Janaby

Dr Qais Kadhim Al Janaby, an Iraqi academic / writer and literary critic,  was arrested on 27th June at his house in Hilla - Iraq, by US troops. His house was raided in the usual Israeli style. No reason was given for his arrest and detention. Now we know that he has been detained in the notorious airport prison where he is not allowed legal presentation or visitors.

Iraqi writers' Union, Hilla and Basra writers' unions have  joined a group of independent  Iraqi writers in writing to Al Maliki and Talabani asking for the release  of the prominant literary critic , the author of many books and condemning  his arbitarary arrest. No response was received.
