Digital Expression Camps Arab
Digital Expression Camps
is a residential summer camp for Arab youth aged between 12 and 15. The
three-week camp will teach them how to proficiently use technological
tools in the world of communications media to promote expression through
sound or visual creations. The camp will be an opportunity for 320
children from several Arab countries to exercise these tools in a free and
fun environment. The camps will take place in two sessions, 8-28 July and
4-24 August 2007, in the luscious green location of the Golf Soleimaniyah
Resort which is 50 km away from You

SAziz@oxfam.org.uk Sent: Wednesday, May 23, 2007 6:19 PM Subject: I need your help please with an article that I'm working on for The Guardian weekend magazine on brain drain in Iraq I was wondering if you might be able to help me? I'm working with a brilliant photographer, Abbi Trayler Smith, on a piece for the Saturday Guardian Magazine focusing on brain drain in Iraq. We want to identify Iraqi professionals who have been forced to flee Iraq and are now in the UK. So, for example, a doctor, pharmacists, teacher, engineer etc who are now in the UK working in say a restaurant, or in a department store, having to rebuild their lives. Because I know how fiercely proud Iraqi's are I want to ensure you that this piece will be focusing on individuals and their stories, telling their stories with dignity. This a creative way (as you know we have to find creative ways of telling the truth when it comes to the media!) and I think a powerful way of telling one of the many tragic stories of Iraq. I would like to find out if you know of any Iraqi's who might agree for me to speak to them for this piece? Abbi would take portrait shots of them to accompany the piece and the pair of us could travel to where the individuals are. I will be writing the piece and I would like to get a good mix of people including women.
